About Me

Watching Inspirational Movies at Church

Growing up, I was a preacher’s kid. Because my dad was the pastor of a church, I rarely ever missed a service. On a few occasions, we watched films with a religious theme at my place of worship. I always looked forward to these events. As a child, watching movies at church provided a break from the usual choir singing and preaching. Viewing religious films was also extremely educational, enjoyable, and uplifting. After watching an inspirational movie, my mood usually improved immediately. On this blog, I hope you will discover the benefits of watching religious films as well as reading about spirituality and doing other things to find inspiration. Enjoy!

How Spirituality And Cemetery Memorials Can Help You Overcome Grief

Grieving the death of a loved one is an individual and personal journey. It is common to feel numb in the beginning stages. The numbness will then progress to feelings of yearning for your loved one who died. You may burst into tears from reminders and memories of the person.

Everyone does not grieve in the same manner or for the same amount of time. However, you must deal with the grief to overcome your loss and move on with your life. Read on to find out how spirituality and cemetery memorials can help you overcome grief:

Accept The Loss

Accepting the reality of your loss is one of the steps in the grieving process. You have to feel the pain of losing your loved one. Going to the burial site and seeing the cemetery memorial is one of the ways to face this reality. Some people must see it to accept the finality.

A cemetery memorial or headstone is more than just a symbol to mark where someone has been laid to rest. It is a tribute to the deceased and can share some personal information about the person.

Ordering the headstone also can be therapeutic. Families can participate in the designing, which allows for reminiscing. This process gives you a sense of closure. You are creating a memorial for your loved one that will last for a long time.

The cemetery gives you a permanent place to visit when in mourning. Having access to a place to pay respect allows you to cope with your loss and to heal quicker.

Adjust To Your New Existence

You are going to live in an environment that does not include your deceased loved one. It is important to make the adjustment. You must invest this emotional energy for your deceased loved one in a new relationship.  For example, if you did not drive or spouse was the driver, then you must learn to drive or find a ride. You have to take on the social roles left behind by your deceased loved one.

The spiritual part is knowing that your loved one is in a better place. You must ask the hard questions. It is common to want to know why and what happens next. Faith will keep you grounded and help you learn to live with your loss. You will never forget, but you can still enjoy life. If you are Christian, then you will see your loved one again.
